Cheshire West and Chester is an innovative and ambitious authority, working towards a vision of a thriving and sustainable Borough for individuals and communities alike, and playing a leading role in the wider region. The Borough is diverse in terms of its landscape, communities and economy. As one of the largest unitary authorities in the North West of England it encompasses the city of Chester, an internationally important historic city and a global centre for financial services; a powerful manufacturing base; cutting edge centres of excellence for science and innovation; extensive swathes of countryside; attractive market towns and villages; alongside concentrated areas of urban deprivation.
We are currently looking for a strategic and transformational leader to join the council’s senior team as Head of Planning (and Chief Planning Officer). This is a pivotal role for Cheshire West and Chester, and you will work with a wide array of colleagues and stakeholders, helping us to deliver ambitious plans for inclusive growth and sustainable, high quality development across the borough.
We see planning as an enabling and ‘can do’ function, that has a key role to play in securing a carbon neutral future and ensuring that our communities have a real influence over the future shape of the places that mean so much to them.
We are therefore looking for a positive and outcome focused candidate with a significant track record of success in a senior planning role. If you have the experience, vision and ambition we are looking for please contact our advising consultants.
